Beginning May 1 Ohio smokers will no longer benefit by crossing the border to smoke in Michigan restaurants, owners of Michigan eateries say. Juggling Gypsy’s smoking-related fine upheld by health board

The New Hanover County Board of Health voted unanimously Wednesday to uphold a fine against the Juggling Gypsy for violations of the state’s indoor smoking ban on bars and restaurants. The two-hour hearing Wednesday morning dealt with the first of three separate administrative penalties imposed on the Castle Street bar since the ban took effect earlier this year. N.C. smoking ban upheld by complaint system

The smoke officially cleared Jan. 2 in North Carolina, but public health officials say it could take a few more months for the dust to settle with the state’s new indoor smoking ban. Mobile hotels and restaurants impose indoor smoking restrictions, hope citywide ban follows

A nonsmoking revolution is under way in downtown Mobile, led by new upscale hotels and restaurants that are trying to attract customers who don’t want to go home smelling like an ashtray.
