Ordinance will make it easier to enforce smoking law

The City Council has approved a new ordinance to make it easier to enforce a state ban on smoking in public places. The city ordinance will allow the Galesburg Police Department to prosecute the smoking ban, eliminating the state’s cumbersome enforcement mechanism. Smoke smell is top of the pongs

THE legal ban on cigarette smoking in public places seems to be influencing public perceptions. For the smell of cigarette smoke has been identified as “Top of the Pongs” in a new survey. Lindsay passes new smoking ordinance

The Lindsay City Council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance banning smoking in public places in the city of Lindsay during their Dec. 14 meeting. The ordinance spells out definitions, limitations and penalty provisions. Businesses have three months to implement a written smoking policy to include customers and employees. Why are smoking laws blatantly flouted?

In this age of respect and understanding, I do not know why some establishments and coffee shops still flout the law regarding a smoking ban in public places. The other day, I had to visit Almoayyad Tower in Seef. I wanted to have a coffee on the ground floor by the entrance facing HSBC bank. The place was full of people smoking.
