Nice tuxedo Johnny, shame about the hair: Depp ruins 007 look with scruffy locks on Venice film set

Come June 1, the ball fields and other areas of Hackett Hill and Pinewoods parks where children play will be off limits for smoking.

The name’s Depp, Johnny Depp.

That was probably the phrase going through Johnny Depp’s head as he shot scenes for new film The Tourist in Venice yesterday.

Depp appeared to be channeling 007 in a white tuxedo and black bow tie, but somewhat ruined the desired effect with scruffy hair and a cigarette.

Depp seemed to have taken inspiration from Sean Connery, who made the white tuxedo popular after wearing it for a casino scene in 1964 film Goldfinger.

The 46-year-old actor was filming scenes for the romance film in the idyllic location of St Mark’s Square in Venice.

But rather than admiring his surroundings, Depp seemed intent on getting the scenes right, and paused only to have a cigarette or wave to his many enthusiastic fans.

The Tourist stars Depp as Frank, a heartbroken American tourist who seeks solace in Venice.

He runs into Interpol agent Cara Mason, played by Angelina Jolie, who uses him to help her catch a criminal she had an affair with.

While Depp and Jolie had not worked together before The Tourist, Depp recently revealed they struck up an instant connection.

He said: ‘I’d never met Angelina before but I found her to be a real treat, I mean a real doll.

‘She’s a nice woman, serious about what she does and loves her man and loves her kids. I was very impressed.’

And it appears that the feeling is most definitely mutual, as Jolie is frequently spotted laughing with Depp between takes on set.

Depp and Jolie started shooting The Tourist, written by Julian Fellowes, in Paris in February.

They then made their way to Venice in March and have been there ever since.
