‘Mum, can’t we have a Happy Meal instead?’ Victoria Beckham drags her boys to Nobu for dinner

Japanese cuisine and raw fish isn’t quite at the top at every child’s list of favourite food.

But never ones to follow the crowd, David and Victoria Beckham snubbed the usual child-friendly McDonald’s and Pizza Hut last night when they brought their sons for dinner at Japanese restaurant Nobu.

After being reunited with their father David following his return from London last week, the celebrity couple decided to treat their boys to an expensive meal at the Malibu branch of the celebrity favourite.

While it’s unlikely Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, seven, and Cruz, four, are huge fans of Japanese food, the restaurant does cater to their mother’s very specific diet.

The former Spice Girl, 35, is said to maintain her skinny frame with a diet of blueberries and sashimi (raw seafood).

Nobu doesn’t offer a children’s menu, so quite what the A-list diners at Nobu last night thought of having a group of children at the formal eaterie is anyone’s guess.

Among the items on the menu included sushi, sashimi and kobe beef, not exactly renowned for being popular with youngsters.

On previous meal outings, the Beckham children have been spotted eating at Mexican restaurant Pink Taco or the Hard Rock Cafe.

When he took part in the launch of a new fishfingers range earlier this year, David spoke of the difficulty he had getting their children to eat healthy food.

The family’s outing comes after the couple were named Best Modern Family in a new poll.

Over 3,000 adults taking part in a Sky 1 poll thought the Beckhams were the best representation of a modern family.

David returned to Los Angeles on Thursday after taking part in England’s World Cup qualifying match against the Ukraine.

A recent survey showed it’s not just David and Victoria racking up the air miles.

Internet travel firm eBookers estimated the three boys flew 24,280 miles this summer, as they jetted between Los Angeles, New York, London and Europe.

Meanwhile, Victoria is rumoured to be starring in an episode of Gossip Girl after striking up a friendship with one of the show’s stars Blake Lively.

Blake attended the New York Fashion Week catwalk show for Victoria’s spring/summer 2010 dress collection and has worn the singer’s designs on the show.
